Opportunities and challenges of virtual coaching: Tools to make your coaching successful
Coaching in a virtual environment is a daily practice for many people, particularly for those who work in global organizations, but more often also for those whose coach or coachee just works in different location. In this workshop we will describe the opportunities and challenges of virtual coaching by offering several examples and best practices from different kind of organizations. In addition, we will offer a practical toolbox for both managers and coaches, who work virtually and who want to improve their practices. This workshop is aimed at business managers and coaches, who work virtually. After this workshop, we will offer a follow-up webinar session (voluntary) to share learnings and experiences.
Bio: Johanna Saarinen, PhD, works currently as head of Talent management at Bayer SE. She has a long career as a Human Resource director in global companies, such as Kone, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and IBM. She conducted her doctoral research on Managing global virtual teams in 2016 in Aalto University, Finland.
Bio: Raija Salomaa, PhD is a Senior Executive Coach, PCC who works also as a Mentor Coach for credentialing coaches and as a coaching skills trainer both for managers and coaches. Raija coaches virtually senior officers of United Nations and is the first Finnish professional coach accredited for coaching of Institutions of European Union. Before her career as an Executive Coach Raija held several executive positions in the international hotel industry and business travel sector. Raija has completed her doctoral studies at the University of Vaasa’s Business School, Department of Management on the topic ‘Coaching of international Managers: Organizational and Individual Perspectives’ and is a published author on coaching specific articles and book chapters.
